Read the league's roster
Point at the file exactly as it came — full last names and all. It is read here on this computer, the same way Roll Call reads a folder of images. Nothing leaves this computer until you have checked the columns.
What is sent, when you build the parent list, is one line per athlete: the team, the first name, two letters of the last name and a key. Jayden Smith goes up as Jayden Sm. The rest of that name stays in the file, here.
It has to be sent at all for one reason only: the parents picking from it are on their own phones, somewhere else.
